SOUTH TEXAS POSSE NEWS AND CALENDAR (Planning Still Underway):
EMAIL US AT texaspossesouth@hushmail.com for Details! _________________________ SOUTH TEXAS POSSE NEWS Blaine and Scott, Dallas, Texas We've already been meetin some of the posse members of the new South Texas Posse (STP), and we have to tell ya, its been real fun! We met our pal Blaine (of Blaine and Scott) who lives in Dallas. (that is, when he's not drivin' his big rig from coast to coast) here in West Houston a couple of months ago. Blaine and Scott have been instrumental in helping us git this here site off the ground!! They've even let us use their server for the site! Now thats the neighborly kinda thing the posse's all about!! A BIG thanks to Blaine and Scott!! Mac, Gainesville, Texas We've also met up with Mac of Gainesville, Texas a couple weeks ago for some KILLER margaritas at Ninfa's Mexican Restaurant. Just ask Mike about "worshipping the porcelain god!!" ( he he ) Mac had a pretty good time, too, judgin' by the strong support he waged for Jose Cuervo and the mighty Miller Brewing Co.!! I think our waiter was sad to see us go! (we left a good tip!) Anyhow, I was the DD for the night, so I guess I'll have to make up for it another time! We look forward to another visit with Mac, he's real good people!!
NORTH TEXAS POSSE BBQ 4/29 **** As told by Mac:
Mike H. and I came in Friday evening, to find Pokey workin' like a madman to get ready. There were parts of his house where we had never seen the floor before! Finally a little relaxation set in, Devin and Jeff dragged in from Tennessee about 2 Saturday morning, and we declared everything ready and everyone ready for bed. Late Saturday morning after the surprise rain stopped (damn lyin' weather man!), everybody else started coming in, we lit the fire, Devin opened the first beer (followed by a few of the rest of us), and the festivities began! The barbecue chicken au Pokey and Mac's tater salad were big hits. Scott must have worked all night baking those beans, canning them up in real cans, and working on the 'puter to get those matching labels just right!! Then he followed 'em up with two of the greatest homemade pies in history. Another big hit was the brew. At first we were all sure Roger had brought enough for the day. Well, maybe a normal day. But after another trip, and another, we finally had enough. No drownings, though. We did a little ropin' practice, some spool-ridin' (you'll have to see the pics), wandered around explorin' the "back 40," threw the tennis ball to Bubba the Posse Dog about 12,400 times, and the crowd on the porch managed to solve every single problem in the world. Late that afternoon we got to meet the surviving chicken. Then Roger left for a rodeo, but the rest of us were too tired! Then, as darkness fell (and a coupla serious revellers rose again), we gathered around a helluva bonfire. We even had a straggler or two drop in then. Not to mention a li'l mud party, huh, Scott?!? Next time get 4-wheel-drive!

STAMFORD'S 70TH TEXAS COWBOY REUNION RODEO, July 1-4th, 2000 Grand Entry - Stamford's 70th Texas Cowboy Reunion Rodeo
NEW South Texas Posse member Jake, center, meets North Texas Posse members Mark and Mack at the Stamford Texas Cowboy Reunion Rodeo
As told by Jake: New member Jake made his fifth trip to the 70th Texas Cowboy
Reunion/Rodeo in Stamford TX over the 4th of July holidays. There he met Mack and Mark
(and Larry, not shown in photo) of the North Texas Posse. Jake is
real high on this particular rodeo, primarily because through the years, he's met
several of the competitors and made friends with a few of the locals, says TEXAS STATE POSSE ROUNDUP BBQ ! 8/12/00 ![]() As told by Jake: Mike & Mark hosted a cookout for the South Texas Posse on Saturday, 12 August, with some 17 buds attending, including members of the North Texas Posse. There was plenty to eat...hamburgers, hotdogs, bratwurst, Alsatian sausage, and peppered beef jerky imported from Castroville, TX, and a pot o' home-cooked beans and, of course, plenty of suds, the beer kind! For several, this was the first time to meet each other in person, but the laid back hosts made everyone feel real welcome and at ease. It wasn't long before everyone was chattin' away and jokin' with each other like they was old friends. On Sunday, some members took in the Dixie Chicks concert at the Compaq Center in Houston, which was an unforgettable fiddlin and blue grassing in Chicks style show! Unfortunately, none of the Posse members got close enough to get a picture with the Chicks, but here's some shots of the cookout at Mike & Mark's place in Katy. You'll see that it was a great success and everybody's already lined up for another get-together soon! We're lookin' forward to all the buds of Texas Posses joinin' us for the next one. Check out the calendar for future Posse events!
Everybody relaxes after a big meal, don't they? Gotta have ketchup, plenty of it!

Hey Buds!
YES, the Texas
Posse is alive 'n kickin!! Thanks for all your emails over the last couple of
months. We've tried to get back as well as we can, but we've now moved
out to our new place in Sealy, Texas and was disconnected from the Internet
world for a couple of weeks. To go back a little in time, the Texas
Crawfish Festival was a great Posse event in May!!!! Fourteen Posse
buds turned up and fun was had by all listenin to Zydeco bands, drinkin
beer and gettin to know each other better. We had a big 4th of July
Gatherin near Lincoln , Texas which was quite a party!
Late breaking news on the Posse scene is that the former 3 Posses for the State
of Texas have been merged into a single Texas Posse like it
was when it 'born" here in Texas two years ago!! Looks like the
next Texas Posse event will be a 2nd Annual Texas Posse BBQ out at our new
place in Sealy, Texas. We're trying to get a local country/western band
fer entertainment and we have alot of land now to set up fer a weekend of fun.
If you are interested in attendin, please email us so that we can know how
many to count on. The Texas Posse BBQ will probably be in September; as
many of you remember last years was in August with about 18 Posse buds
attending.
Have to 'pologize for not getting to update the Texas Posse web site http://www.powerbear.com/texasposse/east/ recently
due to our move to Sealy. We have quite a few new Personals Ads to add
and are going to be revamping the site soon with new links to sites that we
are linked to such as RuralGay.com etc.
We also plan a 2nd Annual Posse Trail Ride at Sommerville again this year.
I'm trying to get Denis to head that one up (although he doesn't know it yet
<grin>)....
Keep yer email a comin and we'll be sure to git right back to U. Hope
you can attend the TEXAS POSSE events in the upcoming months. Be sure to
email us if you have any ideas or suggestions on other Texas Posse Gatherins.
Rodeo season is at its peak so if yer goin to attend a rodeo, let us know
and we'll put it on the Posse Calendar.!
Cowboy UP!

Ya don't have to have a horse to go on the Posse Trail Ride; bring
yer dog, bring yer cayote, bring yer beer and everyone will have fun.
There is lots to do at Lake Somerville State Park. Check out this link
