Some Rules for Life...
(in no particular order, except the first two):
- Practice A religion.
- Own a pet.
- Practice what you preach.
- Stand for something; standing for nothing means falling for everything.
- Treat others how you want to be treated. The golden rule worked 2,000 years ago, and it
still does.
- Bad karma comes back ten-fold. So does good karma.
- Don't fight; if you must, throw the last punch, not the first.
- In the same vein, if you must use a gun for the purpose for which it is intended, fire
only one shot. Make it the only shot fired, and make it the last.
- Learn to shoot at least two types of weapons well. Your life may one day depend upon it.
- Open your eyes, your heart, and your mind. Close your mouth. (God gave you two eyes, but
only one mouth. Think about it.)
- Dare to love someone.
- Keep a regular exercise regimen.
- Engage in a performing art or discipline.
- Make music on a regular basis, even if all you can play is the tape recorder.
- Do something nice for someone for no reason whatsoever.
- Go hiking or camping, at least 50 miles from civilization.
- Be honest.
- Say what you mean; mean what you say.
- Have the chutzpa to tell someone with higher rank to bugger off.
- Treat everyone as an equal until proven otherwise.
- Respect ALL life, even that which you despise.
- Put everything you have into everything you do.
- Live for today; worry about tomorrow tomorrow.
- Know how to swear; know when not to swear; Perhaps more
importantly, know WHY.
- Learn from your mistakes. Then get on with life.
- If something happens that you could have changed, worry about it; otherwise use your
energy productively elsewhere.
- If you love someone, tell them. Tomorrow it may be too late.
- Remember that "No" is just an answer, not a personal rejection.
